On 26 January in Vilnius, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Edward Nalbandian had a detailed discussion on possibilities to develop bilateral relations. During the discussion, Ažubalis affirmed Lithuania’s willingness to share the experience of EU integration reforms.

| 2012-01-26 LITHUANIA ESTABLISHES DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS WITH GUYANA |
On 25 January in New York, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Lithuania to the United Nations Dalius Čekuolis and Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Guyana to the United Nations George Talbot signed, on behalf of their respective governments, a joint communiqué establishing diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Guyana. Guyana is a country situated in northern part of South America between Venezuela and Suriname that borders with Brazil in the south and with the Atlantic Ocean in the north. Guyana covers 215,000 square kilometres. The country has a population of about 770,000 people. Georgetown is the capital city of Guyana. --> |

On 25 January during the round table discussion on the draft strategy “Lithuania 2030” at the Seimas, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis emphasized that the strengthening of the partnership between the Nordic and Baltic countries was a long-term task, which comprised joint solution of energy and transport problems, and the creation of the region’s information space.

On 26 January in Vilnius, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis is to meet with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Edward Nalbandian, who will be paying a visit to Lithuania. The ministers intend to sign the intergovernmental agreement on cultural cooperation between Lithuania and Armenia.
The meeting will focus on possibilities for developing bilateral relations. In 2011, Lithuania and Armenia marked the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations. --> |

2012-01-22 STUDY ON LATVIAN AND LITHUANIAN RELATIONS: A NEW VISION OF BILATERAL RELATIONS (The Lithuania Tribune, 22 January 2012) On the 20 January the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Latvian Embassy held a discussion on a report about Lithuanian-Latvian co-operation perspectives’ study. The research was presented by its authors, Neris Germanas, the Lithuanian ambassador to Latvia and Alberts Sarkanis, the Latvian ambassador to Lithuania. Initially, the research was turned to the reinforcement and consolidation of bilateral relations and economical, energetic, tourism, educational and cultural sectors. An open discussion was held after the report, involving Lithuanian and Latvian political officers and scientists, historicists, state authority’s and academic institutions’ representatives.
