On 2 September in Vilnius, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis and Minister for Europe of the United Kingdom David Lidington discussed key issues of the European Union and EU’s relations with Eastern neighbours, security policy, bilateral and regional cooperation, energy.

Lithuania’s Ambassador to NATO Linas Linkevičius assumes the title of Dean of the North Atlantic Council.

Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is taking care that the humanitarian aid, which the Government of Lithuania allocated to Pakistan on 31 August, should reach this flood-stricken country as soon as possible.

On 30 August in Warsaw, Political Director of Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Eitvydas Bajarūnas attended the seminar for Central and Eastern European region. Nuclear security issues were discussed at the seminar.

On 27 August at the Lithuanian Embassy in Latvia, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis and leaders of the organizations of Latvia’s Lithuanians discussed the “Global Lithuania” development strategy that was prepared by Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

The Minister stressed that this strategy should be should be jointly created and owned not by the MFA, but by those who hold themselves Lithuanians and those who agree with the idea of the consolidation of the Lithuanian diaspora.

On 27 August at the meeting of foreign ministers of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway and Iceland (NB8) in Riga, head of Lithuania’s diplomacy called on the Nordic and Baltic States for greater integration.

“Europe’s ongoing regionalization is beneficial for the European Union itself. The Baltic-Nordic cooperation is the only real opportunity for us to be visible and influential not only in Europe, but also in the world,” Minister A.Ažubalis said.

On 26 August, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis bade farewell to the outgoing Ambassador of Ireland to Lithuania Donal Denham.

On 25 August in Vilnius, during the annual convention of the heads of Lithuania’s diplomatic representations, Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis encouraged the ambassadors to take the initiative in searching for potential investors from the countries of their representation, and in inviting Lithuanian businesses to look for export opportunities and partners.

On 25 August, the annual convention of the heads of Lithuania’s diplomatic representations started in Vilnius. It will continue for two days. After a meeting with President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis highlighted the priorities of diplomatic service to the ambassadors.
