Lithuania’s Government allocates 350 thousand euros in humanitarian aid to Armenia

On Wednesday, the Government of Lithuania approved a resolution drafted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to allocate 350 thousand euros in humanitarian aid to Armenia.

“After Azerbaijan took control of Nagorno Karabakh by military means, over 100 thousand Karabakh Armenians fled to Armenia. The influx of refugees is yet another challenge facing Armenia’s democratic Government, which seeks to normalise relations with its neighbours and diversify its trade and security partnerships under increasing pressure and hybrid attacks from Russia. We strongly support Armenia’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and commitment to democratic development. We call on the EU and its member states to step up their support and deepen relations with Armenia,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis.

Landsbergis continues to call on Azerbaijan and Armenia to consolidate efforts on negotiations on a comprehensive peace agreement, aiming at strengthened sovereignty of the countries of the South Caucasus and lasting sustainable peace in the region.

The Lithuanian Government also responded to Armenia’s request for humanitarian aid by providing 200 sleeping bags, 200 foldable beds, 4000 blankets worth 65,5 thousand euros and medical supplies worth 28,6 thousand euros.
